First-person combat with a pink clown character in Endacopia's carnival area
The carnival contains several separate clown challenges; this guide covers the color-coded whack-a-clown machine. Screenshot: AndyLand, via the official Endacopia Steam page.

What type of clowns can’t tell jokes anymore?

The riddle answer is dead clowns. For the Endacopia clown puzzle, that means selecting the colors whose clown dies at the end of its color-coded film:

  • Do not hit: blue, orange, teal/cyan and green.
  • Turn every other color into a tombstone.

Each target takes more than one hit. Stop only when the clown head has changed into a grave marker.

How the game expects you to solve it

This Endacopia clown machine asks which clowns can no longer tell jokes. The clue is outside the puzzle room:

  1. Enter the nearby film tent.
  2. Notice that the seats and films use the same colors as the clown heads.
  3. Watch the ending of each colored film.
  4. Record which clown is actually dead when the film ends.
  5. Return to the machine.
  6. Repeatedly hit the matching colors until they become tombstones.

The puzzle is testing outcomes, not how badly a clown was hurt.

Injuries that do not count

A film can look violent without ending in death. Being struck, trapped or badly injured is not enough. This is the main reason a logically close answer is rejected.

If you want to solve it without using the quick answer, write two columns—alive and dead—and classify only the final frame of each film.

Why the solution does not trigger

One selected clown is not a tombstone yet

Keep hitting a correct target until the visual fully changes. A damaged head is not the completed state.

You hit a survivor

The four survivor colors should remain untouched. If the machine does not allow a clean correction, leave the interaction and restart the puzzle state before entering the final answer again.

Teal and blue look too similar

Use the seat-to-film relationship instead of judging the clown machine in isolation. The darker blue and lighter teal/cyan entries are separate colors, and both survive.

Verification notes

Chickenmilk’s Steam community explanation confirms that the films and seats are color coded, that injuries do not count and that correct targets must become tombstones. The quick color answer is also repeated by players solving the same launch-build puzzle in an Endacopia help discussion.

The clown machine is not one of Ending C’s three secret flags. Misery Town’s actual secret begins with the metal detector in the cinema; see the complete Ending C route.

For the precision challenge in the same broader carnival route, see the operation minigame guide. More current answers are collected in the puzzle solutions index.
