How the fight starts
Clocky is tied to the opening bedroom progression. Complete the early route through the kitchen, obtain the coins, use the Wall Bank and power the bedroom computer. After you use Doors.exe to create the way forward, Clocky reveals himself and forces Mellow into the game’s first-person combat view.
This is a required opening encounter, not an optional secret.
The safe fight loop
- Start the cycle ready to defend rather than attack.
- Read Clocky’s movement and block or dodge the incoming hits.
- Watch the stamina bar. Do not hold a defensive input longer than the active sequence requires.
- When the attack sequence ends and Clocky pauses, move to offense.
- Left-click to punch during the opening.
- Return to defense instead of trying to force a second unsafe hit.
- Repeat until the fight ends.
The central lesson is tell → defend → recover → punish. Clocky becomes much easier when you stop trying to race his damage.
Blocking and stamina
The official Steam description confirms that Mellow fights with his bare fists and can block, dodge and punch in first person. Clocky introduces this system.
Community routes often recommend leaning heavily on blocking for the first encounter. That works only while stamina is available. Release the block during genuine pauses so the bar can recover; entering the next sequence with an empty bar is more dangerous than missing one damage opening.
When should you punch?
Wait until Clocky has completed his short attack pattern and is no longer producing an active hit. Demo-era routes describe a predictable multi-hit cadence followed by a punish window. The full release retains the same basic defense-then-punch lesson, but visual timing and performance can affect how the window feels.
If a punch does not register safely, do not keep clicking. Reset to defense and use the next pause.
Common reasons you die
Attacking during Clocky’s sequence
Mellow does not win a damage trade. Finish the defensive part of the cycle before clicking to punch.
Holding block until stamina is gone
Blocking is not a permanent shield. Release it between sequences and let stamina refill.
Panicking after the first missed punish
One missed opening does not ruin the fight. Repeating unsafe clicks usually does. Return to the loop and wait for the next clean pause.
Using a demo speedrun as exact full-release timing
The opening structure is closely related to the demo, but routes optimized for speed can assume precise timing and skips. Use them to understand the pattern, not as proof that every current build behaves identically.
What happens after Clocky?
Once Clocky is defeated, use the newly opened route and continue into the hallway. The house expands from there, and later combat encounters build on the same pattern: recognize a tell, survive the sequence and attack only when the enemy gives up control.
Verification notes
The encounter trigger and combat verbs are supported by the official Steam description. The basic cadence is also documented in established demo routes, including the Speedrun.com FullDemo guide. This page avoids claiming frame-exact timings until they can be checked against the current full release.
